There's a great spot right in the parking lot of Merritt College to get a view of Oakland and San Francisco. You could spend some time exploring this site with everything from wide angle to super telephoto.
I shot this with my Tamron wide angle for my crop frame. Since I went to the D600 I haven't had a wide angle, but I just got in a 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5 and I'm very excited to get out and shoot with it. So awesome to have a wide angle on my full frame!
Working through the last year's worth of photos, determining whether I need to keep all 8000 I've currently not deleted. How many different angles of a landscape do you need to keep and how many picture sof the Golden Gate, especially when they're unremarkable? I think I'll thank myself when I'm 75 and not looking through a million photos I've collected during my lifetime. In the mean time, here's a few I found and didn't process.
I was back in Sydney last week. This sunset was a bit more spectacular than the last one I witnessed from this location. Alas they had the area gated off to get out to where the rocks are, so the foreground is limited to some still water from the long exposure.
